Background & Services

I started teaching about 15 years ago +/- after becoming an EMT.  I received my Instructors Certificate from American Heart Association through Providence Medford Medical Center to teach CPR courses.  I originally just taught CPR classes for Providence and for our fire department. 

I then found out through speaking to people, there was a need in the community for an instructor to come to businesses and teach their employees, in their own environment.  So, I became an Instructor for Medic First Aid out of Eugene and started teaching CPR and First Aid. Then, whew. . . that led to teaching blood borne pathogen courses that company’s needed to meet OR-OSHA requirements, so I got certified to teach that.

From there, the State started offering licensing to day care providers as long as they did a certain amount of pre-requisites, and guess what? Pediatric First Aid with CPR was a pre-req, so I got certified to teach that.

 I now have contracts with a couple of companies to teach for them from here to Roseburg , and believe it or not, I have never advertised my classes; they are all referrals from other customers.  Rick and I started teaching just a class here and there, then one thing led to another.  I had three part time jobs, I worked part time as a Public Relations person for a Title Company, part time as a firefighter/EMT and part time teaching.

In 2000, we decided I was killing myself keeping up the pace, so I quit my highest paying job with benefits to form an LLC.  This enabled me to teach more full time and work Rick’s shift at the Fire Dept.  Because of the 911 calls I responded to, I also became a better EMT and a better Instructor. I respond back on the other captain’s shifts for 911 calls.  

I now teach 4-7 classes a week, some weeks are crazier then others.   I am very passionate about people learning skills to help family, friends and strangers.  Plus, it gives me a forum to hand out information about Meth.

Rick and I have been very blessed and I have been able to hire our daughter as of this year to help me with the paperwork side of the business. She has been helping me teach since she was a teenager.  Now she is a married mommy, so it’s nice to be able to teach with her.
